12days until
Spring Training Camp!

Rider of the Week

Name - Charlie Kranz

Hometown - Tonka Bay, MN

Interests/Activities - My other interests included fishing, boating, running, and eating. Professionally, I am interested in corporate finance and consulting.

How'd you get into cycling? - Got into cycling when I bought an old road bike to get to class and save a few minutes in the mornings. I got hooked as biking was such a great form of exercise and was something fun and new compared to rowing. I've been biking a little over a year now, and look forward to more riding and racing in the future.

Favorite Riding Memory -My favorite riding memory so far is the team's spring break trip to Arkansas in 2011. The hills were brutal but the weather was (mostly) great and I got way stronger on the bike.

Favorite Pro Rider - Fabian Cancellara

Updates, Updates, Updates...

Lots of new stuff! In no particular order:

  • UMCT Calendar is now up to date, including all of the races through the end of May.  Look for one or two big events still TBA, so check back in.
  • We're entering the Build 1 training phase on Monday, and a new, up-to-date training plan has been uploaded.  You can find it over in the forms and files section.
  • We're 8 days from our next power testing session, brought to you by The Fix Studio.  Be sure to send an email to karlschuchard@gmail.com if you're interested.  This opportunity is only available to Dues-paid members.
  • Racing season is less than 2 months away!  It's time to get your annual collegiate USAC License. You can either pay $30 and get the collegiate license, or $60 to get a USAC road license with the free collegiate add-on.  The big difference is that the $60 license covers you for both collegiate racing and any racing you do during the summer.  If you decide to go with just the collegiate license now, and realize later you want to race during the summer, you'll have to pay the additional $60 to get another license at that point.  You should do this ASAP, because it's the busy season for those guys, and if you show up to a race without a license you have to pay a fee, do a mountain of paperwork, and cause a big headache for the race organizers and officials.  Just remember to click the free collegiate add-on if you decide to go for the full season license!

  • This upcoming week will witness round 2 of the hotly contested UMCT Crazy Socks competition. Judging will occur on Wednesday February 1 at indoor training. MK & Jennie clearly had the goods in round 1. Who will up their game for round 2?

Check back for updates in the coming days!
